New Driving Safety Courses On the Way

More than 2,300 Americans died in 2007 from occupational transportation accidents. That's 2 out of every 5 work-related deaths for the year. In other words, for 2007, that's:

  • 2,300 times the number of fatal shark attacks worldwide
  • 127 times the number of U.S. skydiving deaths
  • 51 times the number of fatal U.S. lightning strikes
  • Or over 3 times the number of global airline fatalities

So, as a company focused on positively impacting the safety industry, Convergence Training plans to release Defensive Driving, the first in our new Commercial Driving Safety series, in August. Later in the year, we'll follow up with Seat Belt Safety and Vehicle Preparedness.

Defensive Driving will cover the fundamental concepts of collision avoidance, economics of safe driving, and vehicle knowledge. And as you've come to expect, our material will represent the insights, regulations, and best practices of leading organizations, including the National Safety Council, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and OSHA.

Award-Winning Software, Now Even Better

Once again, we've listened to our customers and whadayano, they gave us some great input. So without further ado, our updated Surface Miner Training – Advanced software now boasts these new features:

  • Additional Content - A new 'Additional Content' option in 'Configuration' settings allows users to enable trial use of our Environmental Health and Safety library within the software. Licensing with a serial number can be done at any time later.
  • Workgroup Server Connectivity - Workgroup connections can be purchased to allow up to 6 simultaneous remote connections to the software through a local area network.
  • New Training Group - A new 'General Safety Training' training group has been added for users who may not be miners. Users can be assigned and a training plan can be built specifically for this new group.
  • New Functions for Manual Records - 'Create Training Record' and 'Create New-Task Record' features will now keep the same users assigned between saves to eliminate the need for re-selecting users when saving multiple records.
