Miner Training Course Library
The federal government’s Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) requires mandatory
training of surface miners. Our twenty-seven-course Surface Miner Training curriculum
is designed to help mine owners and operators meet the MSHA training requirements.
The information provided in the courses is based on the insights and knowledge of
experienced miners, extensive industry research, and MSHA best practices, and can
be used in conjunction with supervised, on-site training as part of an approved
training plan.
Mine owners and operators can use Surface Miner Training courses to help provide
the following training mandated under Title 30 CFR Part 46:
- New Miner Training (CFR 30 Part 46.5)
- Newly Hired Experienced Miner Training (CFR 30 Part 46.6)
- New Task Training (CFR 30 Part 46.7)
- Annual Refresher Training (CFR 30 Part 46.8)

Media-Rich Training Materials
All Surface Miner Training courses include media-rich content that incorporates
3-D animations, still images, charts and graphs, audio, and text. Interactive elements
capture and hold the learner’s interest and stimulate true understanding. The courses
are self-paced to match adult learning styles and include non-scored progress report
questions that increase learning retention and scored questions that assess the
learner’s comprehension of the materials.

Training Delivery, Tracking, Reporting, and MSHA Documentation
You can deliver the Surface Miner Training courses with the Convergence Learning
Management System or with the Convergence Training Desktop. Both provide robust delivery,
tracking, reporting, and archiving tools. They even help you generate the Training
Plan and Record of Training documents required by MSHA. Or, since the courses are
SCORM 1.2 conformant, you can incorporate them into any SCORM-conformant LMS.
